This was an exciting challenge, improving the usability and experience whilst refreshing the interface of an existing, much loved banking app.

My team and I had the massive task of redesigning all the features of an outdated banking app to improve usability based on client feedback as well as add new features to improve the remote banking experience.

Approach

We started by understanding what problems our clients were experiencing with the existing app through various channels such as social media and branches. We also brainstormed potential new features that would help improve the client experience.

The primary focus was to improve the usability of the existing core functionality of the app without compromising the users understanding of how the features work

Solution

After multiple usability testing sessions and iterations we were confident that we struck a good balance between improved usability and simplicity. The new features we added improved the client experience and sped up existing tasks.

We opted for a very clean and clear user interface to reduce cognitive load when dealing with finances. Focused our colour palette to help separate primary and secondary functions. We also simplified the existing icons set and updated the fonts.
